Nursing is an essential field globally, and in order to become successful health care professionals, it is important to gain a high-quality education that will serve you throughout your career.
Daemen has been named the number one private school in Western New York in the U.S. Nursing Schools Almanac Rankings. Want to learn more?
Below are some of the many reasons Daemen is a premier institution for nursing.
Variety of our programs lead to valued career options
One of the criteria for the ranking involves having a variety and depth of nursing programs, something Daemen definitely delivers offering two bachelor in nursing degree options, many graduate programs and certificate opportunities.
Nursing programs to help secure your nursing B.S.
Daemen offers two different programs – Nursing, B.S. (1+2+1 Program) and Nursing, B.S. (R.N. to B.S. Program) – designed to help current and aspiring nurses to earn their B.S. degree while balancing life responsibilities.
“We offer a variety both in program options and program formats,” said Dr. Martha Kershaw, assistant professor of nursing at Daemen University.
The R.N. to B.S. program, designed with working nurses in mind, includes online and hybrid options so students can select the method that works best for their learning.
The Nursing, B.S. (1+2+1 Program) offers a unique collaboration with local associate degree programs for students coming from high school wanting to become nurses. In this program, students can earn both their associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in just four years.
Programs to further your skills and education
Daemen offers a smooth transition from a bachelor of science in nursing to our graduate programs, which include Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, M.S., Nursing Executive Leadership, M.S. and Nursing Education, M.S.
Certificate programs are also offered, including Advanced Certificate in Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner, Advanced Certificate in Nursing Education, Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Nursing Executive Leadership and Perspectives in Oncology Nursing for International RNS.
These help further develop nurses’ skills putting them in a better position within the job market.
Accessibility and faculty support are of priority
Daemen’s nursing degree programs offer flexibility to those looking to expand their professional experience in the field. Generous scholarships also help provide access and resources to those of varied economic backgrounds.
Overall, the nursing department works to provide top quality support to its students that other institutions may all too often not see as a priority. Class schedules are set up to support working nurses who may have family or other important commitments. Additionally, faculty members are dedicated to providing individualized attention to their students.
“Our faculty is always recognized for their accessibility, flexibility and care,” explained Kershaw. “Faculty members make themselves available, recognizing that our students are working adults and may need support during non-traditional times.”
Faculty members also work to help students find sites for their clinical courses that support both their professional and personal interests. They also provide flexible office hours and go extra lengths to make sure students can gain everything they desire from their education and the high quality curriculum.
Offering education leading to return on investment
Student success, something of which Daemen is known for, is also a factor that led to the Nursing Schools Almanac’s ranking results.
Of course, students can gain a higher salary due to furthering their education, but another return on investment from a quality education at Daemen is a significant increase in job options and opportunities, Kershaw explained.
“Nurses find that they are able to apply for a greater choice of positions,” said Kershaw.
